ANALISA UMUR KELELAHAN AKIBAT BEBAN TERMAL PADA EVAPORATOR SISTEM DESALINASI AIR LAUT KEADAAN VAKUM

Abstract


Each material in the initial state is able to work properly due to static loading under its
material yield limit, but it can fail. This phenomenon is called fatigue failure. In this study,
fatigue life analysis performed on seawater desalination evaporator to see how strong the
material receiving material expenses incurred during operation. In operation, the thermal
load of the evaporator receiving repeated continuously in a long time. The fatigue life
analysis method is by calculation using the analitical formula then simulated by software to
determine the critical point of potential failure. The parameters measured were received at
the evaporator temperature when testing and some other parameters are the design
parameters obtained from reference materials stainless steel AISI 304.Results of this
research is the analysis of the fatigue life has a high cycle fatigue exceeding 105 cycles. The
analysis result shown that evaporator of stainless steel AISI 304 safe from thermal loading
experienced when evaporate the sea water and have high cyclic fatigue life so that the
lifespan of the evaporator also becomes long.
