Formulasi Ekstrak Etanol Mikroalga Chroococcus turgidus untuk Sediaan Masker Peel-off sebagai Antibakteri

Abstract


 

ABSTRAK: Bakteri merupakan salah satu penyebab penyakit kulit wajah, terutama jerawat. Hal ini sering terjadi pada wajah yang disebabkan karena adanya sumbatan oleh lemak pada pori kulit. Akibat dari sumbatan tersebut, dapat terjadi komedo dan pada kondisi meradang karena infeksi bakteri dapat menyebabkan terjadinya jerawat. Penelitian sebelumnya menyatakan bahwa Chroococcus turgidus memiliki senyawa flavonoid  yang berpotensi sebagai antibakteri dan antioksidan.  Penelitian ini  bertujuan untuk megetahui aktivitas antibakteri dari bakteri Propionibacterium acnes dan Staphylococcus epidermidis pada sediaan masker peel-off yang mengandung ekstrak etanol C. turgidus dengan variasi konsentrasi 0%, 2%, 3% dan 4%. Evaluasi sediaan yang dilakukan meliputi organoleptik, pH, viskositas, homogenitas, waktu sediaan mengering, daya sebar, sifat mekanik, , uji hedonik, dan uji stabilitas cycling test. Hasil penelitian menunjukan semua formulasi sediaan masker peel-off mempunyai aktivitas antibakteri terhadap bakteri P. acnes dan S. epidermidis. Semakin tinggi ekstrak etanol C. turgidus yang ditambahkan ke dalam sediaan masker peel-off, zona hambat yang terbentuk pada kedua bakteri uji  semakin besar.     Oleh karena itu, ekstrak etanol dari C. turgidus dapat sebagai salah satu senyawa bioaktif yang berpotensi sebagai antibakteri pada sedian masker peel-off

ABSTRACT: Bacteria are one of the causes of facial skin disease, especially acne. This often occurs on the face due to blockages by fat in the skin pores. As a result of this blockage, blackheads can occur and in inflamed conditions due to bacterial infection can cause acne. Previous research states that Chroococcus turgidus has a flavonoid compound that has potential as an antibacterial and antioxidant This study aims to know the antibacterial activity of the bacteria Propionibacterium acnes and Staphylococcus epidermidis on the peel-off mask preparations containing ethanol extract of C. turgidus with varying concentrations of 0%, 2%, 3% and 4%. Evaluation of preparations carried out included organoleptic, pH, viscosity, homogeneity, drying time, dispersibility, mechanical properties, hedonic test, and stability test (cycling test). The results showed all dosage formulations peel-off mask has antibacterial activity against bacteria P. acnes and S. epidermidis. The higher the ethanol extract of C. turgidus added to the peel-off mask preparation, the larger the inhibition zone formed in the two test bacteria. Therefore, ethanol extract from C. turgidus can be a bioactive compound that has potential as antibacterial properties in the peel-off mask.
