STUDI PENGARUH KOMPOSIT BAHAN PELUNAK TERHADAP SIFAT MEKANIK VULKANISAT KARET ALAM SIR-20

Abstract


Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mempelajari pengaruh perbedaan rasio komposit softener terhadap sifat mekanik vulkanisat karet alam dari hasil mastikasi, vulkanisasi dan pencetakan. Komposit softener yang digunakan terdiri dari campuran dioctyl phthalate dengan minyak jelantah. Minyak jelantah yang digunakan merupakan turunan dari minyak sawit dari sisa penggorengan. Karet alam yang digunakan dari jenis SIR-20, bahan aditif dan filler dari keempat formula (F-01, F-02, F-03 dan F-04) rasionya dikondisikan sama, sementara untuk komposit softener rasionya divariasikan (dioctyl phthalate : minyak jelantah (3 : 0,15; 3 : 10; 3 : 1,25; dan 3 : 1,5) phr. Hasil pengujian sifat mekanik vulkanisat dari perbedaan rasio softener utuk formula F-02 menunjukkan, nilai hardness 79 Shore A, tensile strenght 19,6 Mpa, elongation at break 520%, tear strenght 84,3 kN/m, specific grafity 1,225 g/cm3, dan abrasion resistance DIN 209,0 mm3. Untuk formula F-01 dan F-02 nilai hardnesnya sama (79 Shore A), sementara untuk formula F-03 dan F-04 nilai hardnessnya sama juga (80 Shore A).
